The permanent design makeover that we provided to the Cloisters in Kingston upon Thames exemplifies how it is possible to provide a really good solution on a budget.
The arcade had been identified as a possible revenue stream if the retail units could be persuaded to change existing exits into new entrances but this would be dependent upon making the arcade an attractive proposition to customers.
The solution was found by using the existing suspended ceiling and simply laminating the tiles with a deep, very reflective copper finish to make the space warm and inviting.
Combined with new long life flood lights pointing up at the ceiling (instead of onto the floor) helped to transform the arcade at a fraction of the cost of a traditional architectural solution and enabled the owners to achieve their objective by making the arcade a destination in its own right.
